Design and construction of a Medical Dental Facility at RAF Croughton, which meets the most onerous of often conflicting British and American civilian and military building design standards.
The building is a steel frame structure on pad foundations with the structure and brick/glazed façade meeting counter terrorism design guidelines. It includes a variety of medical rooms. Features include a negatively pressured isolation room, dental treatment rooms, a dental laboratory, a small medical laboratory, a pharmacy and conventional examination/consultation rooms. The project was constructed within a secure military environment.
Our VINCI UK Technology Centre undertook the building air pressure test and acoustic performance testing for this project.
Project MoDEL
Client: VSM Estates Limited
Project MoDEL was a major estate consolidation and redevelopment programme, involving the disposal of six surplus sites in Greater London and construction/refurbishment of RAF Northolt, to where approximately 800 people were relocated.
The project involved a Joint Venture between VINCI Investments and St Modwen Developments in partnership with Defence Estates, and was conducted under the name of VSM Estates.
With multiple constructions and renovations, this was a logistically complex project, not least due to the operational nature of RAF Northolt, which meant work schedules sometimes had to be revised at short notice. Our collaborative and flexible approach has created a blueprint for similar projects in the future.
“Project MoDEL is a perfect example of how working together, in a co-ordinated way, we can maximise the potential of surplus public sector land and create sustainable development.”
