Senior Estimator

Full Details:

You will work in an agile way depending on the demands of the role, working from our office in Reigate, from home as well as attending customer meetings, site visits and project meetings across the London & South region.

As Senior Estimator with VINCI Building, you will lead and take ownership to deliver build costs for our clients on a range of mid & large sized projects, ensuring we propose the right cost, on time, and to the highest quality for cost accuracy.

Collaborating with our wider preconstruction team and supply chain partners, you’ll ensure that we provide an accurate cost in line with the project scope and the customer’s requirements.

Reporting to the Regional Estimator, you’ll work closely with other Estimators, the bid team, suppliers and technical departments within VINCI Building to seek out new opportunities, managing the procurement/value phase to deliver a successful and profitable project.


The Role

Produce analytical cost estimates that reflect the programme, methodology and risk profile developed by the bid team on large scale and complex projects.

Identify the need for, and call for support that may be required to produce estimates.

A thorough understanding of the UK construction market and be aware of the main forms of Contract used and the significance of these contracts in terms of the risks that need to be addressed in the tender.

  • Provide guidance and mentor estimating assistants.
  • Estimate and produce project and corporate documentation.
  • Manage and present estimating / tendering information.
  • Knowledge share to support the development of an innovative team philosophy.
  • Help identify, manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
  • Help identify the supply chain based on an informed and well-developed understanding of the market.
  • Manage the production of papers for use in tender reviews and adjudications.
  • Manage the production of accurate financial forecasts for use in setting target costs ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintain commercial, technical, legal and insurance knowledge of current market.
  • Champion VINCI Building estimating processes and procedures on tenders in order to maximise returns in terms of profit and shareholder value.
  • Produce budget pricing in accordance with available information.
  • Produce cash flows for tendering purposes when required.
  • Lead the tender process on larger or more complex projects as and when required.
  • Present tenders to clients, and act as a representative of VINCI Building.


Essential and Desirable Criteria

You will ideally have some of the following experience:

  • Successful delivery of tenders.
  • Using Estimating systems to an advanced level.
  • Controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets.
  • Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proactively liaising with customers & being able to identify value added opportunities throughout the process.


Qualifications and Memberships

Essential

  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Written & verbal communication skills.
  • A technical understanding of complex construction schemes.
  • Experience of delivering outstanding customer and stakeholder service.


Desirable

  • Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc).
  • Relevant degree.
  • Working towards MCIOB / MRICS.
