Communications & Media Officer

This role plays a key part in enhancing our brand and reputation to both internal and external stakeholders, and supports the VINCI Building delegation in developing and implementing media engagement strategies, plans and campaigns that reflect our core business messages, values and purpose. 

The Communications and Media Officer will work with the Communications Manager to support in developing and delivering media campaigns and stories, as well as communications to help grow our reputation and celebrate achievements across our delegation.

The role would suit someone who is curious about our sector and business and is keen to be involved in telling our story. You must be able to combine that passion with excellent organisational and writing skills with an ability to create stories that reach multiple channels.  Skills to support our website, video making, and digital social media skills will be key.


The role: 

Key duties include:

  • Create stories that jump off the page - delivering engaging and timely content; both written and visual, that reflects agreed tone of voice and messages, as consistent with our Communications Plans and Brand Strategies.
  • Ability to develop creative ideas and editorial across all forms of communication and editing input for a range of platforms.
  • Ability to write effectively for a range of audiences and communication channels including the web and social media.
  • Work with the Communications Manager to ensure media campaigns are consistent across all communications channels and appropriate to the target audience.
  • VINCI Building Press Office function – managing a PR/media/campaign calendar to support proactive and timely communications and engagement and managing timely and accurate media enquiries and responses in partnership with the Communications Manager.
  • Monitor media coverage of our business, and provide timely support, where required. for crisis communications
  • Develop communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal stakeholders and colleagues, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Manage documentation and digital platforms to ensure brand information is accurate, consistent and up to date.
  • Utilise social media and website content to enhance corporate messaging in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
  • Assist the Communications Manager with gathering video footage, Photos and stories from the projects to feature in the company newsletter.
  • Running internal Teams Lunch & Learns to keep our employees updated on various campaigns.
  • Travel to sites to provide communications & media support at key events, such as groundbreaking, executive and dignitary visits, as well as ribbon cutting ceremonies where there could also be a local and/or national media presence.
  • Assist with the production and compilation of the VINCI Building Newsletter.
  • Effectively plan, organise, and where appropriate implement functions/events/conferences. 
  • Manage the content on all VINCI Building Sedao boards to ensure consistency.


The person:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence an audience.
  • A good team player and communicator who is able to work with all levels of the organisation.


Essential and Desirable Criteria:

  • GCSE and A level qualification
  • Excellent and demonstrable written and oral communication skillsWorking in an office environment gained through direct work experience or work placements preferably in a  marketing/communications department
  • Experience of working as part of a team


Desirable skills:

  • Specialist qualification in communications (i.e. CIPR Adv. Dip, CIM) or other relevant qualification.
  • Exposure to corporate communications, PR and marketing functions
  • Demonstrable communications experience gained in a B2B environment.
  • Well-rounded communications background, including internal communications management, media relations, corporate communications and digital.
  • Can demonstrate initiative, creativity and progression in a communications and marketing role.
