Senior Project Manager

We're looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Midlands region to take responsibility for the construction delivery of a major Hospital project.

Leading and managing the project delivery team, you’ll build and develop the project team, managing Client and stakeholder relationships, and be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project in terms of cost, value, schedule, safety, quality, and environment. 

You will have responsibility for the resourcing, development, and leadership of the team, defining and communicating project objectives and constraints and complying with health, safety and environmental legislation, thereby delivering the end product on time, within budget and to the agreed quality. 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Project Manager you'll be working within the Build Team, leading on a large hospital project. You’ll display enthusiasm, passion, and confidence combined with an open communication style, comfortable leading presentations, team briefings, and chairing meetings on site.

With your proven track record of working for a major Tier 1 contractor in the UK, you’ll aim to maximise profit whilst endeavouring to exceed all client expectations. 


Your day to day will include:

  • Managing the finances (revenue, costs, and cash flow) of projects.
  • Managing operational communications and relationships with customers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders for the projects.
  • Providing regular, accurate, consolidated reports and forecasts for the project to the regional executive team. 


The person

  • You’ll have significant experience in leading on healthcare construction projects with a Tier 1 Main Contractor in the UK of significant value from pre-construction through delivery to handover.
  • Relevant qualifications – degree level, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing project budgets and programmes.
  • Detailed understanding of the CDM and health and safety legislation.
  • Expert knowledge of delivery under NEC and JCT contract conditions.
  • IT literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email as well as experience of using ASTA Power Project or Microsoft Project.
  • SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, First Aid.

  • Managing organisational resources
  • Maintain a clear management structure
  • Displays enthusiasm, passion, and confidence combined with an open communication style.  Are comfortable leading presentations, team briefings, chairing meetings on site
  • Ensure individuals are aware of what is expected of them and assign individual responsibilities
  • Employ additional resources as required 
  • Develop individuals through coaching and training
  • Manage employee conflict


Management of information

  • Management of designers, including direction for the design manager
  • Production of information required schedules & subsequent monitoring
  • Ensure dissemination of information to relevant parties
  • Build working relationships with peers and colleagues in VINCI. Willing to foster knowledge sharing, learning and development, collaboration across projects and sectors
  • Understand what BIM is, understand the implications and value proposition of BIM within the organisation


Production

  • Ensure materials, plant and sub-contractors are procured to meet targets.
  • Ensure appropriate quality is achieved on the project.
  • Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with all HS&E legislation, and the site Health & Safety and Environmental Plans.
  • Review Health & Safety and investigate incidents, providing summary and recommendations. 
  • Periodic inspection of construction sites to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
  • Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
  • Mitigate legal issues and defects liability for the business.
  • Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  • Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges.


Project Planning

  • Maintain & develop overall strategy for the project.
  • Develop plans to achieve specific goals.
  • Ensure that construction activities move according to predetermined schedule.
  • Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams.
  • Review project plans with Contracts Manager on Monthly basis.


Project Reporting and Cost Management

  • Understand contract mechanisms, and contemporary cost and programme data, and communicate the project financial and contractual position through written reports and in CVR meetings.
  • Identify where cost and value can be managed for the overall betterment of the project.
  • Understands VINCI corporate strategy and priorities, and the relationship of the project and its team to them.


Liaison with client and end users

  • Manage aspirations of client & end users.
  • Resolve queries and complaints.
  • Develop relationships for the future winning work.
  • Report on progress, problems and information requirements.


Administration

  • Organise time and prioritise actions to be visible and present where needed e.g. possession weekends/supplier events/safety breakfasts.
  • Ensure project documents are complete.
  • Manage site secretary / receptionist.
  • Set up project systems and review.
  • Procure IT requirements.
  • Ensure company procedures are being maintained by internal review.
